Итак, автомобиль мой абсолютно редчайший в Москве, на момент постановки на учет таких авто бегало по Москве всего 4 штуки и это не потому что сей агрегат очень дорогой, а потому, что он произведен для рынка США и Канады и больше некуда практически не поставляется. Это очень странный автомобиль, потому как в основу его положены разработки специалистов-маркетологов и конструкторов компании Вольво партнера Форда. Перед Новым Годом его признали самым безопасным авто, продававшимся в США в 2006/2007 годах.
Первые впечатления противоречивы: с одной стороны, большой внедорожник или SUV, с другой стороны, громадная конструкция на маленьких ножках-колесиках, однозначно надо будет ставить диски повнушительней, иначе как-то несолидно. Салон отделан идеальной кожей (мое исполнение Ionatic) и деревом (стучал, но вроде бы действительно дерево). Напрягает несколько рядов сидений. Мне кажется, третий самый неуютный ряд абсолютно лишний и ненужный видимо конструкторы хотели влезть еще в один сегмент — в минивен. В остальном салон идеален для меня, но общее впечатление портит дешевый пластик, который встречается то тут, то там.
Внешне создает джиповатое впечатление нежели, как от приподнятого универсала. Двигатель действительно мощный в моей комплектации 204 л.с. при 4-х литрах объема (правда, когда искал авто, видел в инете и 200 и 207 сильные). Конечно, о раме и о мостах речи и нет — это не внедорожник. Создается впечатление, что это раздутый и увеличенный в ширину и действительно сей агрегат построен на его платформе и технологии безопасности имеют те же корни.
Теперь о динамике и о приводе. Машина действительно динамична и превосходно держит дорогу — однозначно лучше, чем Субарик Легаси последнего поколения, который был у меня до этого. Динамика превосходна: до сотни ок. 9 сек, неприятное впечатление оставляет лишь начальное поведение вариатора (который там кстати установлен) -ощущается легкий провал в динамике, который потом быстро наверстывается. В поворотах на скорости более 100 км в час не сносит вбок как Форестер жены или мой Легаси, идеально держит дорогу. Но при скорости более 130 км в час начинает рыскать и требовать подруливания.
В принципе для города идеальный вариант, но есть конкретные недостатки: низкий для внедорожных маневров клиренс, даже с большими дисками, думаю, что в перспективе столкнусь с проблемой наличия запчастей, хотя расходники в огромном количестве и дешево. На дороге часто притормаживают и рассматривают, особенно достали Фордоводы или Пассатчики (в темное время суток авто похож на приподнятый Пассат прежнего поколения с необычно высоким клиренсом).
Проехал около 20000 км, кроме колодок не менял ничего. Ах да, промыл инжектор.

The Ford Freestar was introduced in the 2004 model year as a replacement for the Ford Windstar. The Mercury Monterey was introduced in the same year and discontinued after the 2006 model year.

The dummy’s position in relation to the steering wheel and instrument panel after the crash test indicates that the driver’s survival space was maintained well.
Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy’s head hit only the head restraint, as indicated by smeared greasepaint.
Forces on the legs and feet were low, indicating that significant injury was unlikely.

The Ford Freestar was introduced in the 2004 model year as a replacement for the Windstar. The Mercury Monterey was introduced in 2004 as well and discontinued after the 2006 model year. Beginning with 2006 Freestar and Monterey models, design changes were made to the door trim panels and the side airbags to improve occupant protection in side impact crashes, and the side airbags were made standard in all Monterey models.
Two tests of a 2006 Freestar were conducted, one with optional side airbags for the driver and rear passenger, and one without. These vehicles are rated separately, except that the structural ratings for both vehicles are based on both tests.

2006 Mercury Monterey Overview
There are few changes for the 2006 model year. Mercury has dropped the previously offered Convenience and Premier trim lines, leaving only the Luxury model. Due to lackluster sales, Ford will drop both the Monterey and Freestar.
Safety remains the Montereyâ??s strongest suit with five star government crash ratings and insurance industry recommendations for its offset-frontal crash performance. The Monterey has a reinforced frontal structure to absorb such impacts. In addition, the Monterey features the outstanding three-row Safety Canopy airbag system which offers head protection for passengers in all three rows. It also comes equipped with occupant-sensing front-passenger airbags, four-wheel ABS disc brakes, optional AdvanceTrac stability control with traction control, and panic Brake Assist. A tire-pressure monitoring system and self-sealing tires are also optional.
The interior seats seven in three rows (2, 2, and 3). Seating and cargo dimensions remain the same as in the previous year with various configurations built-in. Depending on seat configuration, cargo space can range from 31.5 to 131 cubic feet. There are also overhead and front floor consoles with storage. A dual-zone climate control, power driverâ??s seat, and power adjustable pedals are standard along with a front and rear parking assist system, which beeps when either bumper comes close to an outside object.
The 4.2-liter V6â??s performance remains unchanged. Producing prodigious amounts of torque, the Monterey is a capable hauler and works seamlessly with the four-speed automatic transmission. Gas mileage figures are 23 mpg highway and 17 mpg city. The Monterey remains a competent highway vehicle but still lacks the refinement and ride comfort of its class peers. Its low resale value reflects the perception of this overall lack of refinement.
